Appalachia Service Project

Mt Zion participates in ASP, serving families in the mountains of West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina. As their vision statement states, ASP envisions the eradication of substandard housing in Central Appalachia and the transformation of everyone who comes in contact with this ministry.

Project WARM

WARM (Wrapping Arms ‘Round Many) is a sheltering program in St. Mary’s County. The Department of Social Services has partnered with churches to provide safe places for men, women, and children to sleep during the cold weather months of November through March.

Hungry Team

The Hungry Team operates through donations of cash and non-perishable food items and fundraiser events: an annual yard sale in September and a Dinner Theater.

Christmas in April

Christmas in April assists elderly, low income and disabled homeowners in our community to be warmer, dryer, safer and independent within their own homes.

Mt. Zion has participated as a sponsor for Christmas in April for over 10 years. On this day we join efforts to improve the homes of our neighbors. Volunteers do basic home improvements; painting, weather proofing, ramp building and landscaping. Teens 14 and older are welcome with signed parent permission. (Deadline to sign-up: March 14, 2022)
